Goals in either half from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson condemned Bayern to a 2-0 loss in a game where Harry Kane struggled to impress. When reflecting on the defeat, manager Tuchel mused if an exhausted Musiala might have been better off being used as an impact substitute, rather than a starter, after playing in both of Germany's wins over France and Belgium over the past week.

He told reporters after the match: "I perceived Jamal [Musiala] to be very, very tired when he came back from the national team. In retrospect, I thought to myself whether it wouldn't have been better to only use him in the last 30 minutes."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bayern's loss to Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen's last-gasp win over Hoffenheim, means Tuchel's men are 13 points adrift of the Bundesliga table-toppers. The German – who is leaving Bayern this summer – conceded the title to Xabi Alonso's side and now there is a distinct possibility the Bavarians may fail to pick up a trophy for the first time since the 2011/12 campaign.

WHAT NEXT?

Bayern are next in Bundesliga action on Saturday away to Heidenheim before taking on Arsenal in the first-leg of their quarter-final Champions League tie. This is the only piece of silverware they can realistically win this season.
